Themes May 2004 - Wild Animals

Songs

1. 100 Animals

I went to the wild

And what did I see?

100 animals

Looking at me.

There were,

10 tall giraffes, eating from the trees.

10 silly monkeys, scratching on their knees.

10 sleeping snakes, lying in the sun.

10 munching elephants, eating peanuts one by one.

10 baby tigers, sniffing up in the air with their nose,

10 pink flamingos, standing on their toes.

10 grouchy bears, trying to get some sleep.

10 happy hippos, in the water deep.

10 roaring lions, playful as a child.

10 galloping zebras, all living in the wild.

2. Oh I went to the zoo

Oh I went to the zoo

And what did I see?

I saw a great big Lion

Lookin' at me

He went

Raaaar  raaar raar raar

He went

Raaaar  raaar raar raar

He went

Raaaar  raaar raar raar

And that's what he said to me!

Oh I went to the zoo

And what did I see?

I saw a great big monkey

Lookin' at me

He went

Ooooooo ooooooo ooooooo

He went

Ooooooo ooooooo ooooooo

He went

Ooooooo ooooooo ooooooo

And that's what she said to me!

Oh I went to the zoo

And what did I see?

Ask the children to come up with their own zoo animal and the sound it makes!

3. If I were Sung to: " The Mulberry Bush"

Oh, if I were a big tiger,

A big tiger, a big tiger.

Oh, if I were a big tiger,

I'd roar around the wild.

Oh, if I were an elephant,

an elephant, an elephant.

Oh, if I were an elephant,

I'd march around the wild.

Oh, if I were a kangaroo,

A kangaroo, a kangaroo.

Oh, if I were a kangaroo,

I'd hop around the wild.

Ask the children to what animal they would see and what that animal would be doing in the wild.  The children can also do the actions.

So let's all go walking,

Having fun the whole day through,

As we go on our field trip,

To the friendly city zoo.
